The Sony ICD-UX523 Digital Flash Voice Recorder is a stereo voice and music recorder as well as a high quality player and storage device. In fact, it's hard to believe that a 2.0 oz piece of audio gear measuring a little over 4.0" packs such an amazing amount of technology. Convenience, easy access to data and clean, accurate recording ability drive the design of the ICD-UX523.

The ICD-UX523 boasts a highly visible, large backlit LCD display. The 4GB flash drive has enough capacity for up to 1,073 hours of voice recording and if that's not enough there's a Micro SD card slot for further expansion. The ICD-UX523 has a built-in stereo microphone and an input for an external mic as well. You can listen to your recordings via the built-in speaker and of course, there's a headphone jack as well. Best of all, this is a USB direct player/recorder. Just plug it into your computer's USB port for simple downloading.

The ICD-UX523 has six recording modes ranging from uncompressed stereo to compressed mono that handily store data in one of 5 organizational folders which can be personalized with your own names. The Easy Search function rewinds or fast forwards in short increments to make location of a segment simple and you can place up to 98 track marks on a recorded file to facilitate jumping to an exact passage.

Sound quality is prioritized using several technologies aimed at yielding a clean signal. Intelligent Noise Cut reduces ambient noise and a Hi / Lo mic switch sets the recorder for lectures or dictation. The Low Cut Filter reduces distracting wind noise during recording while Noise Cut reduces external noise during playback. The ICD-UX523 is Mac and PC compatible and runs on a single AAA battery.

Sync Record
When recording directly from an external device, the Sync Record function can be used to automatically pause the recorder during silence and resume recording when sound is detected.
VOR
Voice Operated Recording starts and stops the recording when sound of a sufficient level is picked up by the microphone. This feature saves valuable recording time by not recording periods when there is little or no sound.
